Trade-in & Device Buyback System
Running a successful trade-in program requires strict pricing rules, compliance checks, and clear workflows. The Admin Console is where you set the engine for how the POS handles buybacks.
Setting Trade-In Pricing Models
Navigate to Inventory > Buyback Configuration.
You cannot effectively run a trade-in program by guessing prices manually. Here, you define device value matrices:
- Select a Make and Model (e.g., Apple iPhone 14 Pro).
- Define Base Value for different capacities (128GB, 256GB).
- Set Grade Modifiers: For example, tell the system that a "Grade B" condition deducts 15% from the base value, while a "Cracked Screen" deducts $150.
- The POS terminal will instantly use these rules to quote the customer dynamically.
Compliance and Documentation
When analyzing processed buybacks in the Admin Console, every intake generates a permanent ledger entry. You can view the attached Customer ID verification scans and the signed PDF Buyback Agreement, which is crucial for local police/pawnshop compliance audits.
Refurbishment Workflow
Once a traded-in item is received, it drops into your Inventory as a unique serialized asset. You can attach a "Repair Job" to this internal asset to fix it, which accurately inflates its cost basis. Once refurbished, you can list it for sale.
